Richard White is a retired History teacher from Chenango Valley High School in Binghamton, NY. He has researched and written about African American history in Upstate New York since 1980. His articles have appeared in Civil War HistoryThe Journal of Negro History, and other publications.

When he’s not researching local history, he enjoys “puttering” in his garage, walking with his two dogs Daisy and Lily, and exercising at Ironworks Gym (ok, he doesn’t really enjoy that part, but he does it anyway!).

This blog was started by his sons, Chris and Dickie, in order to more easily share his work with friends and family.
